Mighty Swell Spiked Seltzers: A Little Wild, Weird And A Bit Defiant

Trending in refreshments these days includes a lot of brands jockeying for position with flavored, spiked seltzers. Consumers want a “healthier” option, a more health-conscious option, in calories as well as in content. The Austin, Texas brand, Mighty Swell, delivers on these criteria.

At first sip, I was totally anticipating the funky aftertaste of an artificial sweetener, which many brands yield to while striving for the lower nutritional measures (calories, carbs, etc.). It didn’t happen. It was palatable.

Mighty Swell spiked seltzers are made with 2.5 percent fruit juice and a clean ingredient deck within each flavor. What that means for your beverage is that there are no high-fructose sweeteners used, no artificial sweeteners or flavors, no weird chemistry additives like red dye #3 or the preservative sodium benzoate. The proof in in the ingredients list on each can.

Mighty Swell uses white grape juice, which includes three grams of sugar, for a crisp, balanced taste in every spiked seltzer. Each can is 100 calories and three carbs.

Each can is five percent alcohol by volume and comes from cold-brewed sugar alcohol.

Mighty Swell is made with gluten-free and vegan-friendly ingredients.
