Museums are a valuable community resource. In order to make their exhibits more accessible to everyone, The Whaling Museum & Education Center is rolling out a new “Welcome Wednesday” program beginning next month. The first Wednesday in May and June, the museum will waive the general admission fee and offer a “pay as you wish” option to all visitors from 12 to 4 p.m.
During summer the museum will offer extended evening hours EVERY Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with the same “pay as you wish” option.
“Our exhibits have something for everyone, from a hands-on workshop for young children, to interactive scavenger hunts for older kids, and fantastic exhibits surrounding not only whaling but modern day conservation for adults,” Assistant Director Cindy Grimm explained. “We wanted to make sure that our exhibits are accessible to everyone, so we’re offering later hours and waiving admission so that anyone can visit.”
