AqueductIn conjunction with Veterans Appreciation Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11, the New York Racing Association (NYRA) will pay tribute to the nation’s active and retired military personnel at Aqueduct Racetrack.  First post is scheduled for 12:20 p.m.

The day will be highlighted by three special ceremonies in Aqueduct’s winners circle:
• Following the running of the second race, at approximately 12:50 p.m., the New York Racing Association will conduct a special trophy presentation recognizing the courage and sacrifices made by service members and veteran NYRA employees.

• Following the running of the third race, at approximately 1:20 p.m., the New York Racing Association will conduct a special trophy presentation featuring representatives of Hope for the Warriors, the featured charity for Veteran’s Appreciation Day.  Hope for the Warriors provides critical support for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.

• Following the running of the fourth race, at approximately 1:47 p.m., the New York Racing Association will conduct a special trophy presentation featuring local Veterans of Foreign Wars members in recognition of their service to our country.

“The New York Racing Association is honored to recognize the selfless service and sacrifice made by the brave men and women of the United States military,” said NYRA Chief Executive Officer and President Christopher Kay. “We look forward to hosting our service members and veterans on Veteran’s Appreciation Day at Aqueduct Racetrack, a special day dedicated in their honor.”

All active and retired military service members possessing valid military ID will be provided free admission to Longshots, Aqueduct’s state-of-the-art simulcasting center on Wednesday. With over 270 individual handicapping carrels and 55 self-service betting terminals located across four separate seating areas, Longshots is the premier horse racing simulcast facility in New York City and is popular with horseplayers year-round, including the Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course meets when live racing is not hosted at Aqueduct.

Additionally, the first 1,000 Aqueduct Racetrack guests purchasing a Post Parade program and possessing valid military ID on Wednesday will be provided a betting voucher for a free wager. This betting voucher can be used on any race at Aqueduct running that day.
