“Thank you to all those who made this event possible and another successful year celebrating our local heroes,” Ra said. “A special thank you to VFW Post 2718 for hosting and the scouts from Boy Scout Troop 93 who were a great help in assisting with the setup, service and cleanup for the event.”

Ra was joined by Town of North Hempstead supervisor Jen DeSena, Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips, Nassau County Legislator John Giuffre and Town of Hempstead Councilman Thomas Muscarella to express thanks to the veterans. Kate Marcino of Garden City South performed the National Anthem and Taps.

More than 80 guests, including family and friends of local veterans, came together to enjoy food and conversation.

“This event allows us to acknowledge their sacrifices, express appreciation and uphold the values of service, unity and respect within our community,” Ra said.
