Luggage brand supports those in need during February, the month for kindness

Briggs & Riley, the Long Island-headquartered, independently-owned brand, is celebrating its sixth annual charity luggage trade-in event, “A Case for Giving.”

Briggs & Riley encourages consumers to give back by turning in their gently used luggage at participating specialty retailers across the U.S. and Canada. All bags will then be donated to a local charity in each market to benefit those in need. With National Random Acts of Kindness Day on Feb. 17 and an extra day in the month this year with Leap Day on Feb. 29, travelers can find more than one reason to give back.

Consumers simply bring in their gently used rolling bag to a nearby participating luggage store between Feb. 1-29, 2020, and receive a $100 credit towards a new Briggs & Riley bag if donating a used Briggs & Riley rolling bag, or a $50 credit if donating a rolling bag from another brand.

“It’s incredible that this year marks the sixth anniversary of our ‘A Case for Giving’ event,” said Briggs & Riley CEO Richard Krulik. “Since the program’s start, we’ve helped more than 300 charities and donated over 5,500 bags. We are thrilled to see the donations increase year after year, and are hopeful that 2020 will be another record year.”

“A Case for Giving” program benefits more than 100 charity partners including the Make a Wish Foundation and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, as well as local foster homes, women’s shelters, coalitions for the homeless and more. More than 300 retail locations have signed on to participate, including leading American department store Dillard’s, and Briggs & Riley’s airport retail locations in Orlando, Houston and Detroit operated in partnership with InMotion.
