With the voices of Butch Patrick, Mel Blanc. Bookended by live-action sequences and featuring a stellar voice cast, 1970’s The Phantom Tollbooth is storied Warner Brothers animator Chuck Jones’s only original feature-length animated film, based on Norton Juster’s much-loved children’s book of the same name. On the streets of San Francisco, a boy named Milo enters a “phantom tollbooth” that takes him into a magical cartoon world, where he encounters warring kingdoms, demons, princesses, and a ticking dog named Tock.
Part of Chuck Jones matinees. 1 p.m. Tickets are included with paid Museum admission on a first-come, first-served basis. Museum members may reserve tickets in advance. $12 adults (18+); $9 senior citizens (65+); $9 students with valid ID; $6 children (3-12). Free for Museum members and children under 3 Paid admission includes tickets to daily film screenings and exhibitions, except for special ticketed events (separate screening tickets must be purchased during the free Friday hours).
