Sid Jacobson JCC’s Randi and Bruce Pergament Jewish Film Festival opens on Wednesday, June 21, at 7:30 p.m. with the documentary On the Map. The festival features documentaries, comedies and short films.

On the Map tells the story of the 1977 Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team that captured the heart of a nation and brought the first European Cup to Israel. Told through the eyes of the six American players, the documentary recounts how an underdog team prevailed over a series of top European teams. On the Map was directed by Dani Menkin and released in 2016. The film will also be shown on Thursday, June 22, at 2 p.m.

The festival runs from Wednesday, June 21 to Thursday, July 27, with a different film being shown every week. Films include the New York premiere of the film Let Yourself Go, Israel’s number one film of 2016, The Women’s Balcony, Tribeca Film Festival best documentary nominee Keep Quiet and the multiple award-winning comedy The Chop. Wednesday night films are shown at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday matinee films are shown at 2 p.m.
