Why I Am Supporting Anna Kaplan

I am so honored to support State Senator Anna Kaplan’s campaign for re-election to New York State Senate District 7.

I remember the wave of panic and worry that crept onto me almost two years ago as I read about the death of the Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Just a few months prior to her passing, I watched the inspiring documentary, RBG, about her journey fighting for gender equality.

Now earlier this year on June 24, the world watched the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade. Abortion bans mean that a state law can force a woman to give birth no matter her personal circumstances. The fate of women’s reproductive rights lie in the hands of state legislatures. Senator Kaplan is fighting for my rights and all other women’s rights as she passes laws protecting abortion providers and patients. Furthermore, Kaplan co-sponsored the Reproductive Health Act and other laws that make contraceptive care accessible to all women. She fights for women and minorities in place of some of us who might not have a voice.

Anna Kaplan is an experienced leader capable of protecting our civil rights and uniting our community. Please use your power and voice to vote for State Senator Anna Kaplan in the primary election on August 23.
