Arthur Dobrin, leader emeritus of the Ethical Humanist Society, will present a talk, “What I Learned at Cop Camp,” about his experiences at the Civilian Police Academy conducted by the Nassau County Police Department. He will speak on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island.
Bringing his insights from his participation in the program, Dr. Dobrin will address the difficulties inherent in community-police relations and propose ways in which they can be improved. Dobrin is emeritus professor of ethics at Hofstra University and the author of 24 books of philosophy, literature and poetry.

The Ethical Society is located at 38 Old Country Rd., between Herricks Road and Mineola Boulevard, in Garden City. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 516-741-7304.
