Volleyball Players Wanted for Tournaments


East End Volleyball has a big line up of beach volleyball events coming to Long Beach this summer.  Tournaments will be held every weekend starting Memorial Day weekend. Events include men’s and women’s doubles, coed doubles, junior doubles, coed 6s and coed 4s. From advanced to novice, East End Volleyball offers divisions for players of all skill levels.  Men’s and women’s divisions include open, AA, A and B, with open being the top level players and B being the beginner level players. Coed divisions include AA, A and B. Junior tournaments are offered to all girls and boys 18 years old and under. Divisions include 18 & under, 16 & under, 14 & under and 12 & under. EEVB is offering advanced and novice divisions for coed 4s and coed 6s. Prizes are awarded to the first, second and third place teams in each division.

The first junior doubles beach volleyball tournament will be May 24. This is a free tournament for all teams that are pre-registered and pre-paid by 8 p.m. Friday, May 22. The following weekend, May 30 to 31, junior divisions will compete on Saturday, May 30. EEVB is charging half-price entry fee for all teams that pre-register and pre-pay by Wednesday May 27. On Sunday, May 31, there will be a free coed juniors division. Junior players receive points for every tournament.  Points are counted towards the Volley America Junior Grand Prix. At the end of the year, players ranked in the top 15 of the grand prix will receive a prize.

There will be a free coed doubles tournament on May 24 for all players who register and pay by Friday, May 22 at 8 p.m. On Sunday, May 31, EEVB will offer a half-price entry fee for all coed teams that pre-register and pre-pay by Friday, May 29 at 8 p.m.


A Money Back Tournament will be held on June 6, where 100 percent of Men’s AA, A, B and Women’s AA, A, B division entry fees will be returned to the players as prize money. Men’s AA, A, B and Women’s AA, A, B divisions will pay half-price entry fees for the Memorial Day Weekend tournament on Saturday, May 30 if registered and paid by Friday, May 29 at 8 p.m.

June 20 to 21 is the King of the Beach Weekend. In this event, all players sign up as individuals and are paired randomly with other players. The format is round robin pool play and single elimination playoffs. In pool play, players in each division will play with a different partner in their pool until all players have played each other at once. Players with the most points in pool play will move on to playoffs.

volleyballCoed 4 and 6-player divisions will be held throughout the summer ending with a championship event on August 30. All coed 4s teams must have at least one female on the court at all times. For coed 6s, teams must have at least two females. The first coed 4s tournaments will be held on Sunday, May 31 and Sunday, May 28. The first Coed 6s Qualifier will be held Sunday July 5. In order to compete in the championship tournament, all players must have competed in at least one coed 4s or coed 6 tournament. At the August 30 championship, first and second place winners for coed 4s receive $1,000 and $500, respectively. Coed 6s championship first, second and third place winners will receive merchandise prizes compliments of East End Volleyball sponsors.
