Unidentified Man Seriously Hurt In Hit-And-Run Crash

An unidentified pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 9:25 p.m. at Carleton Avenue and Brightside Avenue in Central Islip.

A male pedestrian was crossing Carleton Avenue when he was struck by a northbound vehicle that fled the scene. The victim was transported by Suffolk County Police Helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was in serious condition and being treated for head injuries.

The victim’s identity has not been determined.  He is described as a Hispanic male in his mid- to late- 20s.  He was wearing a black t-shirt with a graphic design in the front and back, Buffalo-brand blue jeans, a royal blue belt and gray Sketchers sneakers.

The incident is under investigation by the Vehicular Crime Unit. Anyone who may have witnessed or has information on this crash is asked to call the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
