One of the more quietly influential British Invasion bands, the Zombies were always noted for a sound that combined the airy vocals of Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent’s jazzy organ and piano runs. And while the band were broken up when its seminal 1968 psychedelic platter Odyssey and Oracle exploded on both sides of the Atlantic, the group still went on to influence numerous bands  ranging from peers (The Doors, Vanilla Fudge, The Left Banke) to future generations  (New Pornographers, Matthew Sweet, The Shins). It’s this latter-day influence that’s allowed the band to regroup decades later.
