Detectives are investigating a car crash that critically injured a 10-year-
old pedestrian in Lindenhurst at 8:30 p.m. on June 14.
According to detectives, John Johnson, 10, was crossing Montauk Highway at South 13th Street, with his mother, when he was struck by a 2008 Toyota Scion that was traveling westbound on Montauk Highway. Johnson, of Lindenhurst, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition with a head injury.
The driver of the Scion, Cory Pettit, 21, of Lindenhurst, and his female passenger were not injured in the crash. The Toyota was impounded for a safety check.
