Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter will waive all adoption fees during ‘Summer of Love’

This summer, love is in the air, and if you listen closely, so are the barks and meows coming from the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter, where cuddly cats and dogs are waiting for a permanent home with YOU. Supervisor Kate Murray and the Town of Hempstead are once again holding the “Summer of Love Pet Adoption Program” at the Animal Shelter, where all adoption fees will be waived from June 16 through Sept. 12.
“We’re calling on all residents to find the love in their heart to adopt one of our friendly, lovable cats or dogs during the town’s ‘Summer of Love’ program,” stated Murray. “With all adoption fees waived, there’s no better time to adopt.”
All adoptions include free rabies vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchipping. All cats will be tested for feline AIDS/leukemia.
As always, the town Animal Shelter’s dedicated staff stands ready to assist all interested pet adopters. What’s more, neighbors can visit toh.li/animal-shelter to browse photos and information about cats and dogs available for adoption.
And, what’s love without the gifts? The town has partnered with a number of pet-friendly businesses, which will provide free services for each pet adopted during the town’s “Summer of Love” program. Dog Grooming by Rachel in Bellmore will provide a coupon for one free grooming for dogs, and a free gift for cats. Island Trees Veterinary Hospital in Hicksville will give coupons for a free exam and $25 toward veterinary services. Fido Fitness Club in Woodmere will provide a coupon for one free training class.
“The town thanks Dog Grooming by Rachel, Island Trees Veterinary Hospital and Fido Fitness Club for helping us find loving homes for the wonderful cats and dogs at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter,” stated Murray. “Make this a ‘summer of love’ for a loving cat or dog, and find your BFF (Best Furry Friend) at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter this summer.”
The Hempstead Town Animal Shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh. For more information, call the Shelter at 516- 785-5220 or visit the Animal Shelter website.
