The Suffolk County Police Department is advising residents of unlicensed peddlers who have recently been going door-to-door soliciting residents to purchase magazine subscriptions.
In some cases, the peddlers have become confrontational with residents. If a peddler does not have a vendor certificate from the Town of Smithtown, it is illegal for them to solicit residents and residents should call police if they are threatened by the peddlers.
