Soaping Up For The Needy

Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church ( AMC) will be launching AMCares, an organization within AMC dedicated to mobilizing the youth of the parish and the local community to give their time and effort to raise money or supplies for children and families in need around the world.

AMCares’ first event will be held on May 30, rain date May 31, at The Archangel Michael Church located on 100 Fairway Dr. in Port Washington from 12:30 to 4 p.m. All of the proceeds from the event will be given to philanthropic organizations:
• The International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC)
• The Heart Doctors

These organizations provide critical services to people around the world and have the distinction of spending more than 90 percent of their financial resources on aid for those in need, not on administrative costs.
While participants wait for their car to be cleaned, they can also visit the AMC Café, which will be selling souvlakia on a stick, hot and iced coffee, frappe and Greek pastries.

“Over the years we have established a wonderful sense of giving within the community. This event helps us pass that tradition on to our children, while helping two worthwhile organizations. So
please stop by to get your car cleaned and enjoy some Greek food,” said Parish Council President Michael Cavounis.
