Fast food faces a lot of criticism, with companies being accused of everything from destroying mom-and-pop eateries to making Americans fat and generally unhealthy.
Those accusations, and others, are completely true. But to constantly rail against fast food is an exercise in futility. This food is not going anywhere—its marketing gimmicks, convenience and preservatives ensure that. So, rather than fight for an unattainable victory, we should embrace fast food to the fullest.
This means going beyond the listed menus. Sure, you can walk into a McDonald’s, order a Big Mac with fries and experience a whirlwind of self-loathing mouth pleasure, but in the spirit of National Fast Food Day (Nov. 16), let’s examine the best in “secret menus,” both official and unofficial.
