Popcorn Pairings

Everyone loves a good trip to the movies, but sometimes it’s better to enjoy a cozy night on your own couch, especially if the weather isn’t up to par. For one reason, the wine. Chef Alex Guarnaschelli has found that her favorite Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi wines pair perfectly with the all-time favorite movie snack: popcorn.

“I often find the simplest snacks can be the most satisfying—and when paired with good friends and great wine, you have the perfect recipe for rained out plans,” said Guarnaschelli. “One of my favorite snacks is a bowl of popcorn with a light layer of smoky paprika sifted over top. Sometimes I toss the popcorn with grated Parmesan cheese and cracked black pepper.”

Pair popcorn and chocolate and you have a tasty snack, but popcorn and wine is an even better pairing, and the chef agrees.

“I love a glass of chilled Chardonnay and an old movie to go with it,” she said.
