Play Fundamentals At LICM

Kids get the chance to create and sample simple recipes during LICM’s weekly Kids in the Kitchen workshop.

Children experience critical foundational learning skills wrapped up in a day of play at Long Island Children’s Museum. Daily early childhood programs allow young visitors to develop motor skills, cooperation and communication in a nurturing environment.

Kids in the Kitchen

Friday, May 5, from 11:30 a.m.—noon

Little chefs use real cooking tools (with some help from adults) as they make easy, yummy, kid-friendly snacks from start to finish. As they make their treat, kids gain experience measuring ingredients, following directions and building their vocabulary. This week’s project will be fruit ring pancakes.

Ages: 3-5. Fee: $5 with museum admission ($4 LICM members).

Teacher Act

Saturday, May 6, from 2 to 4 p.m.

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week. Join the LICM as we decorate colorful foam photo frames to gift to our favorite teachers. Put down your notebooks and pencils and pick up some stickers and magnets to make a fun craft.

Ages: 3 and up. Free with museum admission.

Messy Afternoon

Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7, from 3:30-5 p.m.

All activities will be held at the Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Ave., Garden City.
