Fundraiser For Hurricane Harvey Victims At Mulcahy’s Sept. 6

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano joined Acting Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder and officials from the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (PBA), Superior Officers Association (SOA), Detectives Association (DAI) and the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA), at a press conference to announce an upcoming fundraiser to aid the victims of Hurricane Harvey. The special recovery event—“Help For Houston”—will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 5-9 p.m. at Mulcahy’s Pub, 3232 Railroad Ave, Wantagh. 

“Volunteers, first responders and organizations from across America came to Nassau County to help us recover from Superstorm Sandy,” said County Executive Mangano. “This is our chance to help our fellow Americans who are relying on our help to rebuild and restore their lives. Thank you to John Murray of Mulcahy’s and everyone involved with putting this special event together. I encourage any and all residents to come out on Wednesday, September 6 to show their support for our neighbors in need.”

The fundraiser, created in partnership with John Murray, owner of Mulcahy’s Pub, will serve to provide assistance to victims and families who were severely impacted by the Hurricane that hit Houston and its surrounding areas. $20 donation proceeds will go to the Red Cross. There will be a complimentary buffet, drink specials, a live auction and a 50/50 raffle.

Mangano also reminded residents who wish to donate non-perishable food, household or hygiene items to those in need, that the following Nassau County Parks are currently accepting donations:

  • Eisenhower Park on Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow will receive items from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Golf/Driving Range.
  • Christopher Morley Park on Searingtown Rd., Roslyn will receive items from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Administration building.
  • Cedar Creek Park on Merrick Rd, Seaford will receive items from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Administration building.
  • Grant Park on Broadway, Hewlett will receive items from 10 a.m.-6p.m. at the Administration building.

Any resident who cannot attend the fundraiser, but wishes to send a monetary donation, can send checks payable to: Nassau County Detectives Charitable Foundation”, P.O. Box 216, 339 Hicksville Rd, Bethpage, NY 11714. All donations will go directly to the relief effort.
