New Cassel Woman Charged With Taxi Driver Robbery


A New Cassel woman has been charged with robbing a taxi driver on August 18.

Police say at 10:30 p.m., a 37-year-old male driver working for Taxi Hispanic Express picked up Patricia Wright, 25, on Third Avenue. A short distance away, police say Wright grabbed money that was in the driver’s hand and a brief struggle ensued.

The driver then stopped the cab on Hopper Street and Wright fled on foot through a rear yard of a nearby residence, according to police. Responding Third Precinct Police Officers were able to locate Wright on Wright Street in the vicinity of Broadway. She was then placed into police custody without incident. There were no weapons displayed. There were no injuries reported.

Wright is charged with Robbery 3rd Degree.
