Multiple Agencies Team Up To Bust Stores Selling Counterfeit Vaping Products

Nassau County Police Department’s (NCPD) Asset Forfeiture and Intelligence Unit arrested three men in Nassau County, Suffolk County and Queens for trademark counterfeiting of vaping products on Thursday, Aug. 1.

According to detectives, several search warrants in regards to counterfeit goods were executed in locations throughout Nassau and Suffolk County. These searches were executed by members of the NCPD, Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, Customs and Border Patrol, and the NYPD.

Locations are the following:

  • Private Residence – East Meadow
  • Private Residence – Bellerose
  • Private Residence – East Meadow
  • Card Smart Store – 172-A Gardiners Ave., Levittown
  • Card Smart Store – 1918 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow
  • Smoke and Vape Store – 194 East Meadow Ave., East Meadow
  • Card Smart Store – 18 Veteran’s Memorials Highway, Commack

The search resulted in the arrests of defendant Ali Asghar, 58, and Ali Zar, 33, of East Meadow and Ali Moosa, 35, of Bellerose. In total, approximately $140,000 in U.S. currency and $1,500,000 of counterfeit vaping products were confiscated.

Defendants Ali Asghar, Ali Zar and Ali Moosa are all charged with trademark counterfeiting in the first degree. All were arraigned on Friday, Aug. 2, at the First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
