The singular sensation A Chorus Line is now at The Gateway Playhouse in Bellport through May 26. Mitzi Hamilton, the real-life inspiration for the character Val, directs and choreographs the musical that revolutionized Broadway in 1975.
A Chorus Line celebrates both the glamour and grind of 17 talented dancers, and is the musical for everyone who’s ever had a dream of making it in showbiz. The unforgettable score features such classics as “What I Did for Love,” “One” and “I Hope I Get It.”
The talented cast includes Victor Wisehart as director and choreographer Zach, Sabrina Harper as Cassie Ferguson, Kate Loprest as Sheila Bryant, Amanda Miller as Val Clark and Eddie Gutierrez as Paul San Marco.
A Chorus Line was originally conceived of, directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett, who drew inspiration for Val from dancer Mitzi Hamilton. Hamilton went on to become a Broadway legend and has since staged numerous productions across the country of A Chorus Line. She looks forward to passing down the gift of Bennett’s direction and choreography to the next generation of dancers.
