Meet The Artist: Nayyar Iqbal

Nayyar Iqbal is the featured Long Island artist on this edition of Boulevard. Her style is impressionistic, working primarily in oils and mixed media, with bold colors and strokes.

She is a Pakistani-American. Iqbal’s passion for painting encompasses street scenes and traditional old city buildings which are also balanced with images of daily life.

“I feel proud to be able to share my work with everyone and being able to communicate the beauty I perceive through my paintings is a great blessing to me,” Iqbal says.

She has had the opportunity to have her work exhibited in several galleries, throughout the New York metropolitan area, including Room By Room and Barnes Gallery in Garden City, at Sam’s Art Gallery in Flushing, Queens and at My Studio in Port Washington.

Iqbal has also participated in several exhibitions throughout Lahore, Pakistan where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Fine Art, with a focus on figure drawing. She has studied oil painting, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, acrylic and many other techniques.

“I look forward to exhibiting more of my work soon,” she says.

Over the past two decades, Iqbal has received many awards and recognition for her work, including “Best In Show” at a recent exhibit at Emerge Gallery in Saugerties in January 2022. She earned first place in a rotational art exhibit and second place in a competition at My Studio Port Washington. She has received honorable mentions from the Flushing Art League and in an Eastern Long Island exhibit for her work.

Iqbal has been selected for many solo exhibitions also.

“Being able to share and exhibit my work has been the biggest honor,” Iqbal says.
