Autumn’s Bounty by Marjorie van de Stouwe

For our seasonal Autumn! special, Anton Media Group held a cover contest where artists from the Long Island Academy of Fine Art (LIAFA) submitted their work in tune with the theme of fall.

The winning entry was Dr. Marjorie van de Stouwe’s work titled, “Autumn’s Bounty.” Van de Stouwe is a physician and a highly skilled artist, whose subject matter is primarily still life with an emphasis on nature, frequently featuring flowers picked straight from her garden. She began formal classical training in 2002, studying at the Stevenson Academy and then the Long Island Academy of Fine Art in Glen Cove. Her strengths in science and math took her on a different career path, however, and she entered the medical field. Van de Stouwe has continued a serious pursuit of painting while maintaining a thriving medical practice and raising three daughters. Find her on Facebook at Marjorie VandeStouwe and Instagram @vandegram1.

To learn more about LIAFA or to take a class (classes run year-round, seven days a week) visit www.liafa.com or call 516-590-4324 to arrange a trial class or studio visit.

To be considered for future cover contests with Anton Media Group, email contest@antonmediagroup.com.

Cover Contest Honorable Mentions

Long Island Academy of Fine Art

As Long Island’s premier art school, with art classes for kids (kindergarten through seventh grade), teens (portfolio preparation), and adults of all levels and abilities, LIAFA offers training in the methods and techniques of classical representational art, as well as many other topics. The academy’s primary goals are to train the student’s eye to see accurately and with sensitivity, and to foster an environment in which students can grow in their understanding of art as well as in skill and confidence.
