Man Crashes into Police Car Injuring Officer

Detectives request the help of the public in their investigation of a crash that injured a Highway Patrol officer on Sunrise Highway in Holbrook on July 11.

According to police, Suffolk County Police received a 911 call informing highway patrol about a pickup truck weaving as it traveled westbound on Sunrise Highway in Holbrook. A highway patrol officer pulled over in order to wait for the truck to pass his vehicle. The officer’s patrol vehicle was then struck by a 2013 Dodge pickup truck at approximately 11:40 a.m. and its occupant was injured. The officer was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, Jason Rosenzwig 23, of Montauk, suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment at the scene. He was issued summonses for reckless driving and unsafe lane change. The investigation is continuing.
