Man Charged With Attempted Arson

Suffolk County Police have arrested a Central Islip man they say attempted to set three vehicles on fire in the parking lot of a bar in Commack earlier this year.

Alexander Rivera, 35, was seen pouring gasoline over three vehicles in the parking lot of The Scene Restaurant and Lounge, located at 70 Motor Parkway in Commack, on March 16, 2014 at 2:40 a.m., according to police. Rivera fled the scene after being observed by a witness who was also in the parking lot at that time, police say.

Arson Section detectives charged Rivera with two counts of Attempted Arson.
