On Tuesday, June 25, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s colleagues teamed up to volunteer at the local Long Island Mary Brennan INN center and sponsor the daily meal.

In addition to serving the meal, volunteers sorted and stocked donations, greeted guests, prepared shower kits and participated in other day-to-day operations at Long Island’s largest soup kitchen. Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s presented the local organization with a $30,000 check raised through the company’s Bag Hunger campaign donations and corporate giving, which will provide the funds to cover meals for more than 300 guests and support The INN’s programs.

The vision of The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) is to transform lives by addressing the issues of hunger, homelessness and profound poverty through awareness, action and generosity.

Founded in 1983 as a single soup kitchen run by a small group of concerned volunteers, The INN, a Long Island-based nonprofit, delivers its services through the largest soup kitchen on Long Island, emergency homeless shelters and a long-term housing program. In 2016, The INN opened the Center for Transformative Change (CTC), a community resource center and clothing boutique which offers those in need a host of extended referrals and support services in a dignified and respectful manner to help them achieve self-sufficiency.
