Long Island Comic Con will be returning to Nassau for the second year in a row this Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15th. The Eternal Con 2014 will take over three floors of the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, with more than 250 tables of pop culture madness. Eternal con will feature a costume contest, car show, movie screenings, raffles, giveaways, full access to the Cradle of Aviation Museum and much more. The event runs from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
This year, Eternal Con’s organizers will help raise money for several local charities beginning with the Nassau Hurricane Recovery Fund, which collects private donations and disperses them to those Nassau residents still suffering Sandy’s aftermath, and The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. The Hurricane Fund will also receive the proceeds from the sale of the exclusive illustrated Colossus prints from the new movie “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
“I invite all residents to visit Eternal Con 2014 this weekend for the special two day event,” said County Executive Mangano. “The proceeds from auction items will benefit Hurricane Sandy victims. Eternal Con 2014 is a creative way to partner with the private sector to raise money for people in need.”
Eternal Con 2014 will kick off the weekend of events with a free costume play parade at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, in honor of Father’s Day, Eternal Con will offer half price for children and host special events including Jedi Light Saber training for the children. All children who participate will receive a free light saber.
Special celebrity guests include Rebecca Mader (Once Upon a Time, Lost); Daniel Cudmore (X-Men, Twilight Series), Ray Park (G.I Joe, Star Wars), Steve Cardenas (Red Power Ranger) and Lee Arenberg (Once Upon a Time, Star Trek). Also appearing at the event are comic book superstar artists Amanda Conner (Supergirl, Harley Quinn) and Adam Kubert (Avengers, X-Men); comic book writer Jimmy Palmiotti (Jonah Hex, Painkiller Jane); and WWE wrestler Mick Foley.
