LI Crime Snapshot: Small Theft Auto

CNTY_CrimeSnapshotSmallTheftAutoThis map shows all the incidents of theft from parked cars reported by the Nassau County Police for the week of Aug. 21-Aug. 28.

Items stolen most commonly consisted of wallets, pocketbooks and cash; tech gadgets such as smartphones, tablets, GPS and radios; sunglasses; and generically described “property.”

A few pieces stood out. A set of golf clubs was taken in Hicksville; a tennis racquet in Massapequa Park. One thief took medical equipment! The vehicles themselves were not immune: a few lost license plates and one was stripped of a single tire and rim. A boat was stripped of poles.

In many cases, the vehicle was left unlocked.
