Jamaica Man Arrested for Selling Twelve Cars for Parts


Police reported the arrest of a Jamaica resident for selling twelve stolen vehicles for parts over the course of a month beginning April 5, in Valley Stream.

According to detectives, suspect Karlton Hope, 20, of 115-27 Bedell Street, Jamaica, allegedly brought twelve stolen cars to a scrap yard and allegedly presented fraudulent New York State Department of Motor Vehicles MV-35 forms for each vehicle which contained false information in which the suspect purported to be the vehicles’ true owner.

Detectives arrested Hope on Friday, June 27, at his residence. The suspect was charged with twelve counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree and twelve counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. He was arraigned on June 28 in First District Court in Hempstead.
