The Nassau County SPCA is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for placing an illegal leg trap in Port Washington. A 10-year-old female feral cat was found on June 23 near Sandy Hollow Lane. She was weak and frightened and dragging the trap. She was taken to an emergency animal hospital, but sadly due to the severity of her injuries she had to be humanely euthanized.

The Nassau County SPCA is offering this reward because it feels that it is necessary to use every available tool in fighting animal cruelty to ensure that the abusers face the maximum penalty under the law.

If you have any information, please call The Animal Cruelty Stoppers Hotline at:

516-THE-SPCA (516-843-7722)

All calls will be kept confidential.
