‘Getting Your Daughter Ready For College’

Winthrop_ACollege-bound young women and their moms are invited to attend Winthrop-University Hospital’s unique presentation, “Getting Your Daughter Ready for College,” on Thursday, April 14, at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the Winthrop Research & Academic Center, 101 Mineola Blvd. in Mineola, and will address the health and social issues faced by college-bound women.

This program was developed by healthcare professionals at Winthrop more than 10 years ago and is presented every spring for mothers and daughters. It offers strategies and practical tips that help young women make smart choices that will help protect their well-being.

Topics presented by speakers Jane Swedler, MD, chief of adolescent medicine and Elana Kastner, MD, attending physician, department of OB/GYN, include: adapting to campus life, campus safety, making the right choices, nutrition, time management and on-campus medical assistance.

The presentation costs $20 per person. Seating is limited and reservations are required. For more information or to make a reservation call 516-663-2609.
