On Saturday, September 5 at 1 p.m., Long Island-based equine artist Joanne Y. Pierce will hold a special drawing class on Instagram Live prior to the race coverage to celebrate the Kentucky Derby. The lesson will teach viewers how to draw the Kentucky Derby trophy and the famous Churchill Downs spires. The class will cover levels of proficiency for all age groups, from basic arts and crafts and fundamentals. Visit for the live as well as past lessons.

While we are still in the COVID-19 environment, both parents and children are all looking for more opportunities to connect with others engaging, creative ways. Pierce understands how life still can feel frustrating, and she wants to use art to help contribute to the solution.

Pierce would like to share her craft with the world through her new video series, “Pierce the HeArtLessons,” available at the website listed above.
