Fireworks Launched from Tube Damage Building in Mineola


Detectives are investigating a case of criminal mischief that occurred on July 3, at 11:25 p.m. in Mineola.

According to police, an unknown male subject (no further description available), allegedly launched commercial fireworks from a tube launcher causing some damage to the Jericho Terrace Catering Hall located at 249 Jericho Turnpike. There were approximately one hundred attending a catered event in the building at the time of the explosion. Witnesses heard a loud bang, saw smoke and an explosion on the northern outside wall of the building. The explosion caused damage to the doorway, but no injuries were reported. The subject fled and was last seen running south on Mineola Boulevard.
