Ticks And Mosquitos: Avoid Their Bites

Do you love nature and want to feel comfortable and safe being outdoors? Join the North Shore Land Alliance on either Thursday, March 5 or Thursday, March 12 for an important presentation: Ticks and Mosquitos: Avoid Their Bites!
The number of people affected by tickborne diseases in the United States has more than doubled in the last twenty years according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Jody Gangloff-Kaufmann, an entomologist working in community integrated pest management at Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, will discuss the different tick species found on Long Island, the variety of diseases they carry, and most importantly, how to avoid being bitten by both ticks and mosquitos.
Two dates: Thursday, March 5, 7 to 9 p.m., Locust Valley Library (170 Buckram Road) OR Thursday, March 12, 7 to 9 p.m., St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1670 Route 25A, Cold Spring Harbor.
