Children’s Winter Recess Programs:
- Make a Dreamcatcher at 1 p.m.
- Victorian Tea Party at 2:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 21
Make a Dreamcatcher: Dreamcatchers were originally made by the children of Native American tribes, such as the Cherokee. These Native Americans of the Great Plains believed the air was filled with both good and bad dreams. Learn the legend of how dreamcatchers trapped all bad dreams. Dreamcatchers were hung in the tipi or lodge and on a baby’s cradle board. Create your very own to hang in a special place.
Victorian Tea Party: Join the party! This fun and informative program includes role-playing while teaching social skills, self-esteem and confidence. Children learn dining manners, such as how to properly hold and cut with a knife and fork. Apple juice will be substituted for the hot tea. Participants also practice table setting and introductions. All make their own nametag and place card. Bring a friend, or your favorite doll, or come join new friends at the party! Dress up if you wish!
