Richard Nicolello (R)

Richard Nicolello is the Nassau County Legislator of the 9th district, incumbent.

I am seeking the privilege of continuing to serve as your Nassau County Legislator on the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform party lines. I am proud to run on my record of achievement for the county and the communities I represent.

As legislator, I have worked to hold the line on taxes and to find new and creative ways to reduce government spending. Since taking the Legislative Majority in 2010, my Republican colleagues and I have saved the average Nassau taxpayer more than $2,600 by eliminating the home energy tax, canceling the previous administration’s planned tax increases and cutting spending. We have accomplished this by consolidating county government departments, reducing the labor force by more than 220 employees, and by saving hundreds of millions of dollars through public-private partnerships.

I have worked with Nassau County Executive Mangano and the Nassau County Police Department to maintain Nassau’s status as the safest large suburban county in America. I have sponsored policies, legislation and investments in technology, equipment and training that have helped reduce Nassau County’s crime rate by 25 percent since 2009.
