Eighteen Uniondale Residents Displaced by Fire

Police responded to a fire at the Town of Hempstead Apartments in Uniondale at 7:54 p.m. on June 6 and evacuated the building. The Uniondale Fire Department assisted by East Meadow, North Merrick, South Hempstead, and Bellmore Fire Departments extinguished a fire at 750 Jerusalem Avenue in a third floor apartment No injuries were reported. Eighteen residents were displaced, and were assisted by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, but there appears to be no criminality. Arson and bomb squad detectives are investigating.
