Danfords Hotel & Marina — a harborside boutique hotel and full-service marina situated in the nautical Port Jefferson Village on Long Island’s North Shore — is excited to announce the grand opening of locally sourced seafood restaurant, Ferryman’s Grille, set to open in April 2023 with Executive Chef Justin Ranghell at the helm.
As the hotel and marina gear up for the spring/summer season, Ferryman’s debut will mark the final piece of Danfords’ full property renovation, in which friends, families, couples, and locals alike can unwind and enjoy the stunning views of the Long Island Sound while savoring the distinct flavors of the restaurant’s new menu.
Unveiling Ferryman’s Grille
Previously known as WAVE, Ferryman’s Grille will debut as Danfords’ new seafood driven restaurant, featuring a refreshed design, new lounge and bar, and a sophisticated dining experience with rotating seasonal dishes and coastal-inspired cocktails like the saltwater martini. Ferryman’s will be led by new Executive Chef Justin Ranghell, a Long Island native who brings ample culinary experience, previously working his way from line cook to executive sous chef at The Halyard in Greenport. Ranghell most recently served as the first-ever executive chef at Montauk Distilling Co. in Riverhead, and may also be recognized as the owner of local pastry company, Papi’s Pastries, which gained rapid success and a devoted local following.
Working alongside a variety of local partners to bring farm and sea to table, diners will have the chance to savor a destination-inspired menu including fresh Maine lobster roll, grilled swordfish, fried Ipswich clams, spaghetti and clams, slow cooked salmon and much more. Ferryman’s seasonal dining menus can be enjoyed casually for breakfast and lunch during the day and in the evening for dinner while enjoying the sun set over the harbor on the Marina, West Patio, or the property’s newest dining location, the Lighthouse Pier.
Guests will also be able to enjoy Ferryman’s Grille’s new seasonal cocktail menu, tying the senses and surroundings of the Long Island Sound and Port Jefferson community into weekly specialty cocktails. Highlights of the new cocktail menu will include the “saltwater martini” with house specialized vodka and saltwater pickle, “don on the docks” with Don Julio Bianco mixed with grapefruit shrub and jalapeno, and the “Jefferson Collins” offering a refreshing mix of cucumber, lemon, maraschino cherries and Ketel One Botanical.
Ferryman’s will also collaborate with nearby farms and distilleries for local products and ingredients, including Danfords partnership with Matchbook, the custom blended house vodka, as well as an extensive list of craft beers and wine from breweries and vineyards on Long Island such as Craft on Draft, Port Jefferson Brewing Company, Po’ Boy Brewery, Blue Point Brewing Company, Raphael, Macari Vineyards, and more. Ferryman’s will also offer traditional full service for in-room and marina dining.
Live Music, Events, Local Farm Tours, and More
The launch of Ferryman’s Grille is perfectly timed for the upcoming season as guests can gather for daily live music on the dock, perfect for Port Jefferson residents and visitors to sip cocktails and enjoy the colorful sunset hues. Ferryman’s will take part in festive events including Spring Restaurant Week, for a limited time menu, as well as local experiences including Farm to Table Tours and Wine and Spirit Tours, where guests can taste and learn about local ingredients through excursions like wine pairings and trips to nearby farms.
Guests of Danfords will not only be able to enjoy the new restaurant, but also indulge in amenities that include various activities related to food and beverage, such as the following:

Ferryman’s Grille will now complement Danfords’ full property renovation, offering guests a completely refreshed, nautical getaway influenced by its scenic harborside location and the Port Jefferson community to pay homage to the town’s rich shipping history through modern touches. Drawing inspiration from Danfords’ quaint, waterfront setting, Danfords beams a complete transformation of its striking white façade and elegant interior spaces including all 89 guest rooms and suites, as well as selection of private event spaces offering spectacular water views and experienced event planners. Guests will also have the chance to enjoy Danfords’ recently renovated onsite HLB Spa & Salon, featuring beauty services and spa treatments including facial and massage treatments, lash, threading, brow services and more.
