Earlier today, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone joined Police Commissioner Edward Webber and Stony Brook Hospital Chief of Trauma, Emergency Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, Dr. James Vosswinkel, to discuss the recovery and release of Suffolk County Police Officer Nicholas Guerrero.

Guerrero, 36, and his partner were struck by a vehicle fleeing from a traffic stop on Partridge Lane in Huntington, last Sept., where he suffered a severe head injury and was airlifted to Stony Brook hospital.

Although Guerrero did not participate in the conference, members of the department were on hand to show their support. Guerrero was released from the hospital before being transported to an inpatient rehabilitation facility.
