Mets_090914This summer the Cradle of Aviation Museum celebrated the extraordinary summer of 1969 with a new exhibit called the “Summer of ‘69” that highlighted three iconic events. Landing a man on the moon, the Woodstock Music Festival and the improbable success of the ’69 Mets.

To formally end the celebration of the “summer of ’69,the museum will be hosting a salute to the ’69 Mets at a special dinner on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m.. The dinner will serve to raise funds to support the museum’s education programs. Players scheduled to attend include: Third baseman Ed Charles, shortstop Buddy Harrelson, outfielder Cleon Jones, first baseman Ed Kranepool, pitcher Jim McAndrew, and outfielders Art Shamsky and Ron Swoboda.

The dinner will provide fans with a great opportunity to meet the Mets who turned the once “loveable losers” into world champions. The evening will include a chance to get autographs and the highlight of the night will be a question and answer session with the players. Tickets to the dinner are $100 per person/$90 for Cradle Museum members. Tickets can be purchased by calling 516-572-4066 or by visiting the museum’s website at www.cradleofaviation.org.
