Burglary and Assault in Great Neck Plaza

Detectives are requesting help from the public to identify a man who assaulted and burgled another man at gunpoint in Great Neck Plaza at 1:52 p.m. on June 10.

According to detectives, an unknown male, described as white, five feet, nine inches tall, and 20-30 years-old, rang the doorbell of a 34 year-old man at his Clent Road apartment pretending to be a flower deliveryman. When the victim opened the door, the suspect stunned him with a taser, then struck him on the head with a glass vase knocking him to the ground. A struggle ensued that ended when the victim observed the suspect holding a black handgun. Police allege the burglar bound the victim, hand and foot, then demanded money. The suspect located and broke into a locked safe in a hallway closet. The suspect then left travelling on foot in an unknown direction with proceeds including an undetermined amount of U.S. currency, diamond jewelry, passport and assorted documents.

The victim was transported by police ambulance to a local hospital and treated for facial fractures and head trauma. Detectives request that anyone with information regarding this crime please contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
