Anton Media Group’s Back To School special section cover contest for the Aug. 30 edition, in partnership with the Art League of Long Island, resulted in 13 entries.

And The Cover Winner Is…

A newcomer to the Art League of Long Island’s Summer Portfolio Development program, Alexis Barber, 15, is beginning her sophomore year at East Islip High School. Barber had the distinction of winning third place in an exhibit at the Long Island Children’s Museum when she was in the eighth grade. She plans to sacrifice lunch time to take two honors art classes in the upcoming school year and is enjoying the journey as she searches for her calling in the arts.

Established in 1955, the Dix Hills-based Art League of Long Island is a not-for-profit visual arts center offering art classes and workshops, exhibitions, special events and more. Adults, teens, and children can enroll in over 240 classes and workshops available year-round in the art studios and at off-site locations. Day, evening, and weekend classes in painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, photography, jewelry making, fiber arts, mosaics/glass art, graphic design and more are offered at all levels, from beginner to advanced.
