As a total quote aficionado since I was a young girl, I really believe in the power of words and how they can move us towards more positive perceptions of ourselves and of the world around us. I can recount endless moments of clarity when the words jumped off the page and challenged my beliefs while supporting me to form new, more elevated thought patterns.

Below are some of the quotes that have inspired me and provided me with some of the greatest teachings. I offer my interpretations of each of them.

“Nothing ever really goes away until it teaches us what we need to know.”
– Pema Chodron

It is no coincidence that certain experiences keep showing up in our lives. Until we have a true willingness to look at these repetitive patterns, they will continue to make an appearance into our lives, in one form or another. What are some repeat circumstances that keep showing up for you?

“Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.”
– Unknown

Pain, unfortunately is an emotion that we all experience as human beings. Suffering however, speaks to our need to consistently play back those painful experiences in our lives. We can use our personal will to accept the pain and release the suffering that so often accompanies that pain. What challenging events of your life can you choose to accept to let go of?

“Change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
– Wayne Dyer

This quote is all about perception and how it has the power to shape our reality. When we choose to see what we look at in a new and different way, what is in front of us begins to transform right before our eyes. What situation/person can you look at in a new, more empowering way?

“Live as though everything is rigged in your favor.”
– Rumi

How beautiful it would be to live an existence where we truly believed that everything was happening for us and not to us. This to me means that though things may not always happen in our time and in our way, they may be rerouting us to a better way. How can you open yourself up to infinite possibilities?

“We rise by lifting others.”
– Robert Ingersoll

There is no denying that everyone and everything on our planet is connected in one way or another. Giving to others is one of the most rewarding gifts that we can give to ourselves. We truly do feel elevated and empowered when we take the time to do for others. How can you step outside of yourself and support someone in your life?

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”
– Jim Rohm

Ever notice how you start taking on the characteristics of the people around you? It doesn’t end there. We also start taking on their thoughts, their beliefs and their values too. Get real about the people that you are surrounding yourself with. Are they elevating you or relegating you?

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt

Those who are open to dreaming big and daring greatly are among the most happy and successful people. To truly believe in the beauty of a vision and take the necessary actions to bring it to fruition serve as fuel and passion for a life well lived. How can you start believing in the power and potential of your dreams?
