5 Dead In Southern State Parkway Crash

A family of five people, including three kids, were killed Saturday night when their car veered off the westbound lanes of the Southern State Parkway and crashed into a tree near Belmont Lake State Park in North Babylon.

Police say just before 11 p.m., the car crashed into a tree right next to the Belmont Lake State Park sign at exit 38 and exploded into flames, killing all five occupants on their way home to Brooklyn after a family affair.
