Baby Abel needs a liver transplant.

Doctors say 4-month-old baby Abel Bromberg has two months to live if a living liver donor is not found.

Save1person.org has sent out an alert to the media to help spread the word and find a donor.

Abel has a rare liver disease called Biliary Atresia. Also known as extrahepatic ductopenia and progressive obliterative cholangiopathy, it is a childhood disease of the liver in which one or more bile ducts are abnormally narrow, blocked or absent.

The liver is the only organ in the body that regenerates itself. Donors live long healthy lives after donating a portion of their livers.

Before donating, donors must undergo medical and psychological tests. Then, the length of the hospital stay is about a week. The donee’s insurance pays for medical expenses.

Learn more about Abel’s situation at save1person.net or email his mother at Samathachestnut.sc@gmail.com.
