2 Arrested For Identity Theft

Two women have been arrested in connection with an identity theft that took place in January.

Police say 24-year-old Cynthia Sibert of Hempstead and 50-year-old Lori Furlow of Copiague obtained the identification of a 34-year-old female victim from Wantagh on Jan. 2, then opened two credit cards and purchased a 2012 Nissan Quest and a 2012 Nissan Versa in the victims’ name.

After an investigation, on July 25, detectives arrested Sibert at her home. Furlow was located and placed under arrest on May 6 at the Suffolk County Jail where she was serving a sentence for an unrelated charge. The Nissan Quest was recovered at the home of Sibert.

Sibert was charged with second-degree grand larceny and three counts of first-degree identity theft. Furlow was charged with second-degree grad larceny and two counts of first degree identity theft.
