IMG_1127Film historian John Carpenter of Massapequa was presented with an award of appreciation by the New York Veteran Police Association (NYVPA). Carpenter has been presenting classic and obscure films and lectures at the East Meadow Public Library for 13 years.

The award honors Carpenter’s longstanding ability to bring people together, in spite of their differences. He unites communities together in an audience of education and entertainment.

Carpenter screens The Unholy Garden on Friday, Aug. 5.

Since 1905, the NYVPA has endeavored to foster and perpetuate friendly relations, promote the mutual benefit and welfare of its members, to voluntarily assist members and their families in sickness and distress and to pay the final tribute of respect to its departed members.
